CENTRAL COAST REGIONAL DISTRICT

BYLAW NO. 266

A bylaw to establish a local service within Electoral Areas C, D, and E to provide for STREET LIGHTING.

WHEREAS pursuant to Section 788(1)(h) of the Municipal Act, the Central Coast Regional District, may, by bylaw establish and operate a local service of streetlighting;

AND WHEREAS the said local service area shall encompass Electoral Areas C, D, and E

AND WHEREAS the board wishes to waive the assent of electors requirement with respect to the local service as per Section 800(1)(a) of the Municipal Act;

NOW THEREFORE, the Regional Board of the Central Coast Regional District, in open meeting assembled, enacts as follows:

  1. Street lighting is hereby established as a local service in Electoral Areas C, D, and E identified by intersection locations, on Schedule "A" attached to this bylaw and known as "Bella Coola Valley Street Lighting Service Area".
  2. The costs of providing the service established under section 1 shall be recovered by requisition of money to be collected by a property value tax on land and improvements within electoral areas C, D, and E, and the imposition of fees and other charges that may be fixed by separate bylaw, as per Section 804(1)(a) and 804(1)(c) of the Municipal Act.
  3. The maximum amount that may be requisitioned for annual operating costs for the service provided under section 1 shall be .20/$1000 of net taxable value of land and improvements within the service area, as per Section 804 of the Municipal Act.
  4. As per section 800(2) of the Municipal Act, where a board waives the assent requirement, consent is given on behalf of the electors in Electoral Areas C, D, and E, hereto attached and forming Schedule B of this Bylaw.
  5. This bylaw may be cited as the "Bella Coola Valley Street Lighting Service Area Establishment Bylaw No. 266, 1996".

Location of Street Lights are as follows:

  1. Tonquin Road and Highway 20 (1)
  2. Grant Road and Highway 20 (1)
  3. Oskar Road and Highway 20 (1)
  4. Airport Road and Highway 20 (1)
  5. Nusatsum/Government Road and Highway 20 (1)
  6. Douglas road and Highway 20 (1)
  7. Smith Road and Highway 20 (1)
  8. Eight (8) lights staggered on either side of Highway 20 beginning at B.C. Packers.
  9. Allison Road and Highway 20 (1)
  10. Sawmill Road and Highway 20 (1)
